A smooth creamy soup that can easily be altered to your personal tastes. While Cambozola is a fairly strong cheese, the flavour of the soup itself is quite delicate. Fairly light for a cream soup, I eat this one year round.

You are going to need a few types of dried peppers, anchos are one of my favs but basically whatever you can find at the local Latin market or in the ethnic section of your grocery store (I used 4 anchos and 5 varying smaller ones). Other than that you need garlic and onion powders as well as dried oregano and basil. Last but not least you will need whole cumin seeds.

Current Mega Project: Transfer all recipes in this category from GBSfood.com and make proper entries for them.

Getting Started

To browse our recipes, use the links below or the bar on the left.

  • Recipes by Meal will allow you to choose breakfast, dinner etc.
  • Browse all our desserts, or just main courses using Recipes by Food Type
  • Have a favorite contributor? Recipes by Author will allow you to see all of their recipes on one page.
  • If you just got a great deal on one ingredient at costco, check Recipes by Ingredient to see what you can make with 42 cans of beets.
  • Craving Chinese? Hankering for Hungarian? Check Recipes by Cuisine to browse ethnic favorites.
  • Last but not least recipe wise, if you're interested in the ICSA competitions, past or present check out Iron Chef SA entries

Our non recipe guides fall into several categories.

  • Cooking Basics are guides that teach you culinary techniques. Some are very simple, others are step by step explanations of mysterious terms in cookbooks that you never quite understood.
  • Finally ready to spring for a good chef's knife? Thinking of buying a Stand Mixer? Check out goon opinions in Cookware Guides
  • Find out more about Wine and other things in the Other Guides section.
  • Pimp your favorite local joints or check out the culinary lay of the land for your next holiday in the Food Guide by City category.

Contributing

So you'd like to dive in and help? Please do!

Don't stop with just recipes either, our guide sections will need lots of help too.

There will be an expanded version of this guide on the Contributing page, as eventually I'd like to put something else in this box and move a smaller version of this lower on the main page.

For help getting started, check out the User's Guide to learn the basics, then take a look at the formatting and source of some other recipes on the site. For help specific to editing with examples, visit the Help:Editing page at wikimedia.

Some other tips:

  • Recipe Entry
    • Please follow the conventions of layout etc, having to re-edit every new contribution won't be fun for anyone.
    • Follow the same basic pattern as the other recipes and please try to keep your image sizes under 80k if possible.
    • Choose your images intelligently, we don't need to see a picture of boiling water for a "boil water" step.
    • Add your categories, you can add as many as you want, so make sure it's linked to everything applicable. No one will find your masterpieces otherwise.
  • Categories
    • Pay close attention to spelling and when creating a new category please stick to existing naming conventions. For example as a general rule the recipe categories are all singular, i.e. Potato not potatoes.
    • When creating a new subcategory, remember to add its parent category into your entry. (i.e. add [[category:Main Ingredients]] into your entry for Celery

Lastly, If you want to add a variation to another person’s recipe that is minor enough that it doesn’t warrant a completely new version, add it in a variations section at the very bottom of the recipe and sign with your user name Adding a ~~~ will add your username

We're hoping that eventually we'll be able to have this site as a quality recipe archive for all the tasty treats on the Goons with Spoons forum in the Something Awful Forums. This site can only be as good as its contributors though, so register and dig in.

Consult the User's Guide for information on using the wiki software.

A big thank you to CygnusTM and the rest of the folks from tviv.org for setup help.
