The weather is warming up, and that necessitates some easy grlling recipes. Today, we have Honey Soy Chicken.

Ingredients[edit]

  • Chicken parts (here breasts)
  • 1/3 Cup Soy Sauce
  • 2-3 cloves Garlic, crushed
  • 1 small onion, grated (I use onion powder because I am lazy and only tolerate onions, and barely at that)
  • Pepper
  • 1 T honey
  • 1/4 c cooking sherry (or Green Ginger Wine, I was out of this)

Here we have the ingredients:

Method[edit]

Pour all the marinade ingredients into a saucepan and put it on the stove on LOW heat. Also, make sure you clean your goddamn stove. Food tastes much better on a clean stove.

When the honey has softened and the sauce mixes well together, remove from head and place the chicken in the marinade.

Now, this is where you let the chicken marinade. The time is completely up to you. Some people like to let it sit for hours, other people think 15 minutes is long enough. This is after a half hour. My wife was getting hungry and when she gets hungry, she gets mean. I don't like that very much, so I fired up the grill at this point.

Another point of religious contention is gas vs charcoal. I have a gas grill, and for the purposes of this recipe, it works just goddamn fine, thank you. If you can control the heat of your grill, you want it on LOW HEAT. I have found consistently that cooking chicken on low is much better. It cooks all the way through and won't char the chicken. Hang onto the remaining marinade.

Turn the chicken periodically.

After 10-15 minutes start brushing on the leftover marinade and turn a few more times.
