Garlic Oil in an old wine bottle, note how the fried garlic sinks.

There are many different ways to season food but it can sometimes be difficult to get some flavors to permeate food. Garlic Oil is incredibly simple to make and allows you to add a nice garlic flavor to any dish with olive oil.

Ingredients[edit]

  • Old Wine or Olive Oil Bottle
  • Five or six cloves of Garlic
  • Enough Olive Oil to fill your container
  • A Funnel helps a lot

Preparation[edit]

Preparation is fairly simple. In a medium or large frying pan, add about 1/2 cup of Olive oil and heat on medium heat. Peel your Garlic cloves and put them in the pan and fry until they are golden brown on both sides (about 1 or 2 minutes per side). Remove from heat and let sit until cool. Once the oil is quite cool remove the Garlic Cloves and put inside your (well washed) bottle. Place the funnel in the neck of the bottle and pour in the oil from the pan and then enough oil to fill the bottle about 95%.

Frying the Garlic helps bring out the flavors and also has the added bonus of sinking so you can pour it without clogging the bottle neck.
