  • 6 parts Rolled Oats
  • 6 parts Assorted Nuts
  • 2 part Dried Cranberries (or other fruit)
  • 1 part Honey/Maple Syrup

The nuts can pretty much be whatever you have around. I was cleaning out the pantry, so used pecans and hazelnuts and cashews and almonds and some minced nuts that I think are walnuts.

For the sweetener, the ratio of honey:syrup changes the texture; the more honey you use, the more clumpy the final product will be, so choose accordingly. I used half & half.

Preheat your oven to 325. Toast the biggest nuts in a heavy skillet on medium heat, stirring often. After a couple minutes, add the smaller nuts.

Then, after a couple minutes more, add the oats.

Roast for a while, then remove from heat and stir in the sweetener. Spread evenly into a sheet pan and bake for 15 minutes, removing & stirring every 5.

Mix in the fruit and move to a cool pan so it stop cooking. If you can, line with a silpat, because as this cools, it's gonna be sticky.

Cool to room temp and break into pieces.
