Buttercream frosting is a versatile way to frost cupcakes, breads and cookies. It is also very simple to make as it requires no specialized tools, few ingredients and little time.

Ingredients[edit]

  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 4 cups sifted confectioners (icing) sugar
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons flavouring (vanilla extract, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg...etc)

Method[edit]

Beat butter until fluffy. Gradually add 1/2 the sugar, continuting to beat well. Add milk, beating it slowly into the mixture. Add flavouring and while continuing to beat the mixture, add remaining sugar.

If necessary, add more milk to make for a smoother consistency.
